Salute To Services & Navy Events
2021 marks the 90th anniversary of the Hawke’s Bay Earthquake and the 80th anniversary of the Royal New Zealand Navy, paying tribute to show our appreciation of the crucial role that the services play during natural disasters. Their invaluable contribution is a huge part of the reason we are now celebrating 34 years of this wonderful Festival. On behalf of all the past, present and future residents of Hawke’s Bay, thank you.
The Charter parade is a tradition going back centuries that signifies the bond between the military and the people, where a military unit entrusted with the protection of a city is permitted to march through the streets with Drums beating, Band playing, Colours flying, Bayonets fixed and Swords drawn.DETAILS
