In August 2021, Hawke’s Bay Airport opened the doors to its new terminal building, which cements its status as a true regional hub for all those travelling by air. The terminal is a true reflection of Hawke’s Bay and represents the stories of the people, the land, and the skies of the region.

Join Alice as she pursues the White Rabbit through Wonderland. Meet the Queen in her rose garden, watch them play croquet, and help Alice escape from her army of cards.

Join the hilarious Mad Hatter’s tea party with the Hatter and the March Hare as they celebrate a very merry un-birthday with the Dormouse.

What on earth is the Cheshire cat doing up in a tree, and why is that caterpillar perched on a mushroom? Does he really have words of wisdom to share?

The mock turtle may be able to help if you can understand his poetry and then there is Tweedledee and Tweedledum who are delightfully childish and self-absorbed.

Great for adults and children, this is one not to be missed!

We are committed to maintaining a safe operating space for our staff, volunteers, and visitors at the Art Deco Centre.

We are working closely with Government advisors, Festival Stakeholders, and Venue Partners along with the New Zealand Events Association to ensure the Festival operates safely under the new Traffic Light System.

What a legend — no wonder Fred Astaire remains adored by millions of fans around the world today. A Fine Romance re-creates his story, from humble beginnings on Broadway to Hollywood stardom.

Starring New Zealand’s dancing sweethearts Hillary Moulder and Jeremy Hinman with the Mark Bradley Jazz Trio, A Fine Romance will have you tap-dancing cheek to cheek with backstage stories about his on-screen romances with Judy Garland, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth and of course Ginger Rogers.

Art Deco Festival Napier 2022

The Royal New Zealand Air Force Band has been a vital unit of the New Zealand Defence Force for more than eighty years.

The band is made up of highly skilled reservists, with many also performing in other leading ensembles, ranging from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Wellington to Shapeshifter and the Rodger Fox Big Band.

The largest professional symphonic band in the country, the RNZAF Band returns to Art Deco with a variety show covering symphonic masterworks, jazz standards and of course some Art Deco classics to boot.

The RNZAF Band is thrilled to be returning to the Art Deco Festival.
