At The Pictures – Follow the Fleet
The 1936 musical comedy ‘Follow the Fleet’ is Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire’s love letter to all things nautical. Astaire plays a seaman who, while on shore leave in San Francisco, attempts to woo beautiful dancer Sherry Rogers. Things go awry when he costs Sherry her job – lots of flirting, singing and dancing ensues. Irving Berlin’s timeless musical numbers include comic tap duet ‘Let Yourself Go’ and glorious ‘Let’s Face The Music And Dance’ set amidst a formidable Art Deco backdrop. Rated PG.
